According to the Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG), under the influence of the northeast monsoon, Macau is expected to experience stronger winds and cooler temperatures beginning tonight, as Tropical Cyclone “Fengshen” continued to intensify near the Philippines.
The combined effects of the northeast monsoon and “Fengshen” will bring significant winds reaching Force 6 to 7 with gusts, prompting the issuance of a strong monsoon signal, the observatory said last night, adding that the tropical cyclone was forecast to come within 800 kilometres of Macau between last night and early this morning, and later pass about 400 kilometres south of the city tomorrow, further increasing its impact.
Depending on Fengshen’s development and changes in local wind conditions, SMG said it would consider issuing the Strong Wind Signal No.3 tonight.
The local observatory added that rain was expected from today to Wednesday, with temperatures forecast to drop as low as 18 degrees Celsius. The weather station urged the public to stay updated on the latest weather information and take precautions against the cooler, windy, and rainy conditions in the coming days.
