The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) held a session yesterday at the Macau Grand Prix Museum (MGPM) to celebrate its film “Macau Races On” winning the Best Event Film award at the International Motor Film Awards 2025 in London on October 2, widely regarded as the “Oscars of the motoring world,” according to a statement from MGTO yesterday.

During the yesterday afternoon’s session, MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, together with Deputy Directors Cheng Wai Tong and Jennifer Si Tou, attended the screening and the formal handover of the trophy to the museum for permanent display, the statement said.

Meanwhile, the statement added that film director Sérgio Basto Pérez and co-director Ho Man U gave insights into the film production’s creative process and reflected on the international recognition the film received.

Produced by MGTO and premiered ahead of the 71st Macau Grand Prix last year, the eight-minute film captures over seven decades of racing heritage, offering a cinematic portrayal of the city’s “tourism + events + sports” dynamic, the statement noted, adding that it also recently won the top prize in the “Spot & Adv Project – Fast Sport Stories” category at the 43rd Sport Movies & TV – Milano International FICTS Festival.

“Macau Races On” continues to be screened exclusively at the MGPM Screening Room, alongside “The Legend of the Macau Grand Prix” (2021) and “70 Legendary Years of Macau Grand Prix” (2023), allowing museumgoers to experience the spirit and legacy of the world-famous race through immersive visuals and sound, the statement said.
