Integrated resort operator Sands China supported Caritas Macau’s 56th Charity Bazaar and the 2025 Charity Run, donating a total of 300,000 patacas and marking 22 consecutive years of donations to support the Catholic charity’s operations, according to a statement earlier this week by Sands China.

The charity run took place on September 28 at the University of Macau (UM). Sands China donated 100,000 patacas during the cheque presentation ceremony, with Sands China’s Director of Community Affairs Annie Lam presenting a ceremonial cheque to Caritas Macau Secretary-General Paul Pun Chi Meng, the statement said.

The statement added that Sands Cares Ambassadors also joined the 5K Healthy Run.

The 56th Charity Bazaar, meanwhile, was held over the weekend at the Nam Van Lake Nautical Centre. Sands China Executive Vice President of Operations Sean McCreery presented a 200,000 pataca ceremonial cheque accepted by Pun at the bazaar’s opening ceremony on Saturday.

Moreover, 100 Sands Cares Ambassadors and family members ran a game booth themed “Care and Cherish Each Other. Bring Happiness to All.”, the statement said, with all booth proceeds donated to Caritas Macau, without deducting costs, the statement said. Sands China was the first integrated resort operator to take part in the bazaar in 2011, marking the 15th consecutive year of setting up game booths.

Sands China also bought products from the Fuhong Society of Macau and Noah Family Mutual Aid Association to support the carnival and participating enterprises.

Sands China Executive Vice Chairman Wilfred Wong Ying-wai was quoted by the statement as saying: “This is our 22nd year of donating to support Caritas Macau’s community service work, continuing our long-term commitment to giving back to the local community. It is likewise a pleasure for Sands China to participate in Caritas Macau’s Charity Run and Charity Bazaar each year, promoting community inclusion through concrete action”, giving thanks to both Caritas Macau for its services to the Macau community and to Sands Cares Ambassadors for their event support.

Pun said in the statement that Sands China’s “long-standing engagement with the community, along with their passion and dedication to social welfare, have been a vital force in ensuring the smooth running of the event. All proceeds raised from this year’s Charity Bazaar will be fully allocated to launching and enhancing our non-subsidised social services, with the aim of providing more appropriate support to vulnerable groups, the elderly, and families in need. We firmly believe that with the joint efforts of Sands China and all sectors of society, we can more effectively spread the spirit of care and mutual support, and together build a warmer, more inclusive community in Macau.”
