Integrated resort operator Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) has concluded a five-month series of activities promoting environmental and workplace health themes, according to a statement from the company yesterday.

The “Towards Dual Carbon – Building a Healthy Enterprise” 2025 Series, which began in June, was launched with support from the government’s Environmental Protection Bureau (DSPA) and Health Bureau (SSM). The statement said that the initiative aimed to deepen awareness of green and healthy concepts among its team members and the community.

The series recently culminated in a “finale theme day” at the Galaxy International Convention Centre (GICC) in Cotai. The event featured the award ceremony for the “Eat Green, Eat Healthy Creative Recipes Challenge”, an internal competition that received nearly 60 submissions from team members. According to the statement, five winning recipes will be featured on staff canteen menus.

The statement noted that other activities in the series included a “Health Club” touring event offering health screenings in staff areas, an energy conservation promotion booth run with the Macau Electricity Company, and “Green Tours” for around 280 local students to visit GEG hotels that have received the “Macao Green Hotel Award.”

The theme day was supported and attended by a number of guests including the Health Bureau’s Head of the Centre for Disease Prevention and Control Leong Iek Hou, and the Environmental Protection Bureau’s Acting Chief of its Environmental Publicity and Education Division Cha Chi Kin, as well as representatives from the resort operator.

GEG stated it remains committed to promoting sustainable development. The statement noted that the company was the first integrated resort in Macau to receive a commendation at the Hong Kong ESG Reporting Awards* (HERA) and that it holds Oxfam’s “Eat Fair Corporate” Certificate.

* ESG stands for Environmental, Social, and Governance. It’s a framework used to evaluate a company or investment on how it manages risks and opportunities related to those three central areas. It’s often described as a way to measure a company’s sustainability and ethical impact. – DeepSeek
