Integrated resort operator MGM has reaffirmed its long-standing commitment to corporate social responsibility through two large-scale community events focused on responsible gaming and financial literacy, according to a yesterday statement from the company.
The “Family Financial Budgeting Competition and Responsible Gaming Carnival” and the “Responsible Gaming Carnival and Orienteering Race” drew over 5,000 participants, the statement said.
The first event was organised by MGM and the Macau Federation of Trade Unions (FAOM aka Gung Luen). It featured a parent-child financial budgeting competition, interactive game booths, and DIY workshops. The statement noted that the event was designed to strengthen family communication and promote financial literacy, encouraging families to explore budgeting practices together in a lively and educational setting.
Furthermore, the “Responsible Gaming Carnival and Orienteering Race” was co-organised with the Macao New Chinese Youth Association. This initiative combined a community orienteering challenge with game booths and stage performances. The statement said that participants navigated educational checkpoints themed on financial literacy and responsible entertainment concepts.
These efforts are part of a broader campaign, according to the statement. Since 2023, the company has joined forces with a wide range of community partners to roll out responsible gaming and financial literacy programmes, reaching nearly 60,000 individuals, or nearly 9 percent of the population.
The statement said that MGM will continue to deepen cross-sector collaboration to promote responsible gaming and financial education in schools and communities, aiming to contribute to Macau’s development as a better and healthier city.
