POLY MGM MUSEUM at MGM MACAU welcomed its one millionth visitor yesterday afternoon, with Guangxi’s Zhai Guoying being the lucky museumgoer to claim the title.
A celebration event attended by over 100 staff was held at the Macau integrated resort for the ecstatic Zhai, who was also awarded a special 100-gram pure gold “Ruyi” ornament. The ornament, according to a statement by the MGM yesterday, symbolises “good fortune and the enduring legacy of cultural heritage”.
The commemorative gift was presented to Zhai by Kenneth Feng Xiaofeng, president and executive director of MGM China Holdings Limited
Pansy Ho Chiu-king, chairperson and executive director of MGM China Holdings Limited, was quoted by yesterday’s MGM statement as saying: “Through distinctive narrative perspectives, we aim to deliver a museum experience that is intellectually enriching, engaging, and appealing to visitors of all ages – especially younger generations. Welcoming our one millionth visitor is a testament to this vision and strengthens our confidence as we embark on the next exciting chapter of our journey.”
Located on the second floor of the Macau integrated resort, POLY MGM MUSEUM opened in November last year. It is a collaboration between MGM and Poly Culture and has, according to yesterday’s statement, drawn visitors from Macau, Hong Kong, the Chinese mainland and over 40 countries and regions.
It’s latest exhibition, “Silk Roads Beyond Borders”, is currently on until August 2026 and presents over 200 rare artefacts from nearly 20 institutions in the Chinese mainland, as well as those from the National Museum of Damascus in Syria, and the Hirayama Ikuo Silk Road Museum in Japan.
