ce of a forum held by the Macau General Union of Neighbourhood Associations (UGAMM) Northern District Office yesterday called for a lower percentage of condominium owners required to agree before a dilapidated building can be rebuilt.
The union, commonly known as Kai Fong, organised the forum to discuss the government’s “indefinite timetable for redevelopment of old urban areas”. About 30 residents of the northern district attended the forum.According to the government, there are over 4,000 buildings which are over 30 years old. Many of them are located in Iao Hon district, which is why the district has been earmarked by the government as the trial spot for the redevelopment of the city’s old quarters.
