Glimpses of life and places in Macau and Hengqin are being showcased through a variety of photos displayed at the Activity Room of Flower City Park (花城公園) in Taipa.
The indoor exhibition “Discovering Macau and Hengqin” kicked off on Thursday and features images from a recently held photography competition of the same name that gathered works taken between September 2024 and September 2025. It is hosted by the International Institute of Macau (IIM) and sponsored by the Macao Foundation.
Entering the venue, members of the public will find a wide selection of images, among which are lively events held in Macau and its culture, quiet moments of life, and creative shots of infrastructure, just to name a few. It sees visitors ranging from curious onlookers, photographers and photo enthusiasts to the many children enjoying their time in the park.
Displayed among all the works are the top three winning photographs in both the Macau Residents category and the Open category of the IIM-launched competition, along with five works that garnered honourable mentions.
The contest, according to an IIM statement on Thursday, drew many participants from Macau and elsewhere, drawing over 200 entries. The competition’s aim, the statement said, is to foster understanding of Macau’s rich historical and cultural heritage, particularly among the youth, as well as encourage residents in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin as well as Macau to discover the natural and cultural charm of Hengqin.
Members of the public may view the photographs until next Tuesday, December 9. Admission is free. Flower City Park, according to the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) website, is open daily from 6 a.m. to midnight, with one able to view the works during that time.
