The SME Aid Scheme launched by the Economic Services Bureau (DSE) has approved over 8,600 applications since it started in 2003, amounting to about 2.39 billion patacas, Lau Wai Meng, the bureau’s deputy director, said yesterday.
Lau made the remarks during a forum hosted by the Alliance for Common People Building Up Macau (API) at its headquarters in Areia Preta about the difficulties which small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are facing. Lau was one of the panellists at the forum.According to the bureau’s website, the scheme was launched in 2003, aiming at providing interest-free financial assistance to SMEs affected by SARS.
