Illustrator showcase concludes

Artworks featuring four local IPs (Intellectual Properties) are being showcased at the Former Barra Slaughterhouse Site for the “Macao Coffee Walk: Creative IP Illustration Exhibition”.

Co-organised by the Macau Specialty Coffee Association (MSCA) in conjunction with “Sem Sorriso” (Portuguese for “Without a Smile”), the free-admission exhibition is on until January 25, with the exhibits comprising the IPs “UNDERDOG x Beanie”, the “Mr.Bubbles Family”, “whatelephant”, and “Sweet Sister & Pudding Bear”. Each brings a pop of colour to the venue, while also showcasing to exhibitiongoers the imagination of the creators behind each original local IP.

The exhibition serves as the centrepiece of the second Macao Coffee Walk, according to a statement displayed at the gallery, with the recent event having been held in partnership with 60 local coffee shops. The four featured IPs together hope to discover the “infinite possibilities between coffee and cultural creativity”.

“We believe every cup of coffee holds the pulse of its city. And Macau’s pulse beats in harmony of East and West…Through the visual language of these IP artworks, we rediscover coffee’s local soul”, the statement added. One may view the works daily from 12 noon to 7 p.m.

‘DECADE – Exhibition of Macao Illustrators’ reaches conclusion

Meanwhile, another nearby exhibition titled “DECADE — Exhibition of Macao Illustrators” at the Navy Yard No. 1 concluded its run with its final day yesterday.

The exhibition showcased the selected works by Macau Illustrator Association (MIA) members, along with their collaborators. Among the exhibits showcased were artworks by over 30 illustrators, as well as other items including toys, posters and a section featuring designs on T-shirts.

A recent statement at the venue highlighted that over the past decade, the association has become a “key pillar of the local illustration field”. The statement further underlined that the works by the association members have garnered recognition in contests in the whole nation and abroad, marking the growing presence of Macau illustrators within a wider cultural field.

Both exhibitions had integrated resort operator MGM among the supporting entities.
