The New Macau Gaming Workers’ Rights Union petitioned National People’s Congress (NPC) Standing Committee Chairman Zhang Dejiang yesterday, urging the nation’s third-highest ranked official to be aware of the fact that Macau still does not have a trade union law.

According to the Government Spokesperson’s Office, Zhang will pay a fact-finding visit to the city from today until Wednesday.

The Legislative Assembly has rejected different trade union bills eight times since the establishment of the Macau Special Administrative Region (MSAR) in 1999. The last time such a bill was rejected was in November last year.
