The Environmental Protection Bureau (DSPA) gave 27 hospitality establishments the green hotel award, the highest number over the 10 years that the annual awards event has been held to encourage local hotels to be more environmentally friendly.
The bureau said in a statement yesterday that among the 27 green hotels, 11 received the award for the first time this year. Two budget hotels were also awarded a green hotel certificate for the first time. An awards ceremony will take place next month.According to the bureau, only eight hotels received the recognition when the “Macau Green Hotel Award” was launched a decade ago.
