Integrated resort operator Sands China has recently been awarded the “Top Employer” certification by the Top Employer Institute* for the second consecutive year.
According to a statement yesterday, the achievement follows last year’s milestone as the first integrated resort operator in the Asia Pacific region and the first company in Macau’s tourism and service industry to receive the accolade. It joins 2,500 certified organisations worldwide.
The statement added that Top Employer Institute is “one of the world’s most authoritative certifiers of human resources strategies”. The achievement showcases the company’s commitment to international standards and excellence in HR strategy, the statement said.
Sands China excelled across over 200 assessment criteria, including leadership, talent acquisition, workplace environment, rewards, and recognition. The company was also noted for its initiative to create job roles for people with disabilities, highlighted as a best practice in the institute’s white paper.
The statement added that Sands China, Macau’s largest private employer, employs nearly 28,000 staff, with over 14,000 having served for a decade or longer by the end of 2025, representing nearly 50 percent of its workforce.
The company has created over 1,400 diverse job roles across the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) segment, hospitality, entertainment, retail, and sports events, providing over 90,000 employment opportunities for Macau residents.
Sands China Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director Grant Chum Kwan Lock was quoted by the statement as saying that receiving the certification “reaffirms our steadfast commitment to a people-orientated approach and to nurturing talent for Macau.”
He added: “Our team members are the company’s most valuable asset, and being a dedicated employer remains our guiding principle. We have hence continuously striven to provide our team with a supportive work environment and innovative initiatives that enhance both career and personal development.”
