Zhuhai’s Gongbei Customs announced in a statement yesterday that its officers at the Macau-Zhuhai Gongbei checkpoint seized four bottles of Maotai liquor concealed in four shower gel dispensers last Thursday.
According to the statement, on that day, customs officers at the checkpoint noticed a male traveller walking through the “green channel” and decided to intercept him.
Customs officers discovered that the shopping bag the man was carrying contained four dispensers of shower gel, the statement said, adding that the seals on the dispenser openings showed no signs of tampering, but noticeable gaps were observed at the bottom of each dispenser.
According to the statement, upon opening the shower gel dispensers, customs officers found that each dispenser had a bottle of Maotai liquor in it, totalling four bottles.
The smuggler is surnamed Wei, the statement said.
The statement underlined that smuggling includes the concealing, disguising, misreporting, or otherwise evading of customs inspection when transporting, carrying, or mailing dutiable goods entering or leaving the mainland, and that serious cases that constitute an offence will be subject to criminal liability in accordance with the law.
Custom seizes 8 silver ingots
Meanwhile, the General Administration of Customs (GACC) announced in a statement on Tuesday that Zhuhai’s Gongbei Customs officers seized eight silver ingots at the mainland-side of the Macau-Zhuhai Qingmao checkpoint last Wednesday.
According to the statement, on that day, customs officers at the checkpoint noticed that a female passenger, who had made multiple trips on the same day, appeared nervous and walked in a strange way while entering the “green channel.” Officers intervened and searched her.
Upon further examination, the statement said, customs officers discovered eight silver ingots, weighing a total of eight kilograms, wrapped around the woman’s waist and abdomen.
The statement underlined that smuggling includes the concealing, disguising, misreporting, or otherwise evading of customs inspection when transporting, carrying, or mailing dutiable goods entering or leaving the mainland, and that serious cases that constitute an offence will be subject to criminal liability in accordance with the law.
