The Macau Customs Service announced in a statement last night that its officers intercepted a shipment of undeclared goods entering Macau at a pier in the Inner Harbour on Friday last week, seizing 2,409 used tablet computers, 651 used laptop computers, 567 used DVD drives, and 3,062 used CD drives, with a total estimated market value of about 4.96 million patacas.
During a routine inspection of piers in the Inner Harbour on Friday last week, the statement said, Macau Customs Service officers spotted someone acting suspiciously while moving goods from a pier and loading them onto a lorry.
The officers immediately ordered the person concerned to present the relevant customs declaration documents for the goods. Upon examination, the statement said, the officers found that some of the goods loaded onto the lorry had not been declared to the Macau Customs Service.
According to the statement, the Macau Customs Service will fine the logistics company concerned in accordance with the relevant provisions listed in the External Trade Law. The company faces a fine of up to 50,000 patacas, and the seized goods will be confiscated by the customs, the statement noted.
