The three-day 2026 Macao International Environmental Cooperation Forum & Exhibition (2026MIECF) concluded its run on Saturday, with organisers noting that there was an increase of over 30 percent year-on-year in cooperation agreements signed.
The data comes from a statement on Saturday by MIECF, noting that over 460 business matching sessions were held and more than 60 cooperation agreements signed during the eco-fair.
The statement also said that many exhibitors and participants noted being satisfied with the event’s overall arrangements, giving “highly positive feedback, with green cooperation outcomes exceeding expectations”. Macau’s green financial institutions also organised professional forum activities attended by more than 180 enterprises, the statement said.
The statement added that on the last day of the event, members of the public were able to attend the free-admission “Green Public Day”, where many joined environmental education activities.
Regarding the programme, the statement pointed out that MIECF’s Green Forum gathered nearly 50 experts, scholars and industry leaders from places such as the Chinese mainland, Portuguese-speaking countries (PSCs), Southeast Asia and Europe, with four sessions focusing on ecological civilisation and green finance, among other topics. Meanwhile, over 500 green technology achievements and technical solutions were also presented at the Green Showcase, which covered 12,000 m2.
Moreover, the statement noted that four Macau-Hengqin “multi-venue” activities were joined by over 230 representatives from PSCs and Southeast Asian business delegates, international environmental organisations and green financial institutions.
The Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) also presented Macau and Hengqin’s investment advantages to over 170 enterprises. So far, 35 firms from Brazil, Portugal and the Chinese mainland have signalled intent to invest in Macau – a 60 percent year-on-year increase. The statement added that 15 of them have begun or completed procedures to set up companies in Macau.
