Power utility CEM has announced the launch of its new “Green Point” environmental incentive programme, where, through the CEM app, customers can complete eco-friendly tasks in exchange for points to use for rewards.

According to a statement yesterday, paying bills using the e-wallet, reducing paper usage through using e-bills, or using EV charging services, are among the designated eco-friendly tasks.

The points earned can be used to redeem electricity, charging vouchers or CEM souvenirs, with the statement noting that the programme turns “every energy-saving and carbon-reduction action taken by customers into tangible rewards”.

The statement said that one can also enhance the experience by upgrading to a verified membership by completing e-ID verification via Macao One Account, enabling users to unlock advanced features, as well as earn 1.2 times the points for all completed eco-friendly tasks.

The statement also said that one can download the CEM app and register an eService account to check points and redeem rewards. A single bill can be linked to multiple eService accounts.

“Through this initiative, CEM hopes to integrate energy conservation and carbon reduction into the daily lives of citizens, encouraging more citizens to join the movement and injecting a steady stream of green momentum into Macau’s sustainable development”, the statement said.
