Integrated resort operator MGM is holding the “HAHALULU x MGM Trend Art Exhibition” until the end of August, bringing the Eastern art IP “HAHALULU” to Macau for the first time.

According to an MGM statement yesterday, the IP was created by Dennis Chan, the founder of Qeelin, who is also known as “Father of the Gourd”. The statement said: “With decades of deep engagement in traditional Eastern culture, Dennis draws inspiration from the gourd, a classic symbol of good fortune in Chinese tradition, blending it with a contemporary aesthetic”.

The five-month-long exhibition is being held in partnership with One Central Macau, the statement noted, with its current phase taking place at MGM MACAU’s Grand Praça, where a gourd-shaped zone was created for the IP. Highlights include various installations such as a 5.4 metre-tall HAHALULU installation, a light show, and Chan’s “Master’s Tribute Series” where the IP “steps into iconic Western masterpieces by artists such as Van Gogh, da Vinci, and Vermeer”.

In May, the statement said that the IP’s presence will extend to other key areas and One Central Macau. Moreover, there will be themed offerings at the Pastry Bar at MGM MACAU, while other themed experiences are also set to be held at the integrated resort and One Central Macau, the statement noted.
