The Public Security Police (PSP) arrested a Hong Kong man for sexual harassment of a Filipina on a Taipa-bound public bus on Sunday, PSP spokesman Sou Tak Sen said during a regular press conference yesterday.
Sou identified the suspect as a jobless Hong Kong male in his sixties surnamed Fung and the victim as a female non-resident worker from the Philippines in her twenties, Sou said.
According to Sou, at around 7 a.m. on Sunday, while on a bus from Rua do Almirante Sérgio (河邊新街) to Taipa, the victim was standing due to the bus being full and repeatedly felt a man rubbing his penis against her buttocks. The man later got off the bus near Ocean Gardens in Taipa, Sou said, adding that the victim reported the incident to the police at around 10 a.m. that day.
Based on the information provided by the victim, as well as using onboard surveillance cameras and CCTV footage, Sou said, the Public Security Police identified Fung as the suspect.
According to Sou, at around 8 p.m. the same day, PSP officers apprehended Fung at a hotel in Cotai.
During the investigation, the suspect, surnamed Fung, denied the allegation, according to Sou.
However, after reviewing the evidence, Sou said that PSP officers found additional information confirming the allegation.
Sou noted that Fung has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) for further questioning.
He pointed out that Fung faces a charge in line with Article 164-A of the Macau Penal Code concerning “sexual harassment.” According to the article, he faces up to one year behind bars.
