The Commission Against Corruption (CCAC) announced in a statement yesterday that it has investigated a case involving a woman for attempting to bribe a security guard. The suspect, who is currently barred from entering a local casino, allegedly tried to pay her way into the gaming establishment.
According to the statement, the woman is banned from the casino of a specific integrated resort. She allegedly offered a HK$500 bribe to a security guard on duty in exchange for entry. The guard refused the offer and immediately reported the incident to the police.
Following an investigation, the CCAC determined that the woman is suspected of violating Article 4 of the Law on the Prevention and Suppression of Bribery in the Private Sector. She is suspected of attempted bribery.
The case has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) for further investigation.
A spokesperson for the CCAC told the Post by telephone yesterday that no further information was available for the time being. The statement did not disclose when the alleged incident occurred, nor did it reveal the woman’s age, citizenship or the reason for her existing casino ban.
