Artyzen Grand Lapa Macau is paying playful tribute to English painter George Chinnery (1774-1852) through a collection of plush toys, kids’ amenity travel bags and a City Walk Map featuring and introducing the character “Little Chin”.

Chinnery was based in Macau for nearly 30 years from 1825 until his death in 1852. He is buried in the Old Protestant Cemetery.

The statement released by the hotel on Monday highlights its “deep connection” with the artist, being home to the aptly named Chinnery Ballroom that also features art inspired by his legacy.

“By reimagining George Chinnery – a Western artist who made Macau his home – as part of a collectible guest experience, Artyzen Grand Lapa Macau celebrates the city’s unique East-meets-West identity and invites guests to discover this cultural fusion in an engaging and family-friendly way”, according to a statement from the hotel operator, adding that the character encourages guests to “explore Macau through art and discovery”.

Elaborating on the collection, the statement said that the “Little Chin Plush Toy” features the character accompanied by his brown dog “Gatchai”, while the reusable Kids’ Amenities Travel Bag is filled with gentle, kid-safe products.

The City Walk Map, meanwhile, is available from the concierge and features the self-guided routes “Heritage and Art Walk”, which explores the city in Chinnery’s footsteps, and the “Family Fun Walk” that highlights family-friendly attractions near the hotel.

The statement said that families who book the “Macau Explorcation Room Package” will receive the Little Chin amenities collection as a welcome perk.
