A variety of colourful artworks showcasing Macau through the eyes of youngsters are on display at Instituto Português do Oriente (IPOR) on Rua do Pato (醫院後街) for an exhibition held as part of the ongoing Letras & Companhia festival.
Letras & Companhia (“Literature and Companions”) is a literary and cultural festival for parents and children, being held until May 24. The event officially kicked off on Saturday, marking the event’s sixth edition; this year it is titled “A Minha Cidade” in Portuguese, or “My City”.
The ongoing free-admission exhibition, which shares the same title as the festival’s theme, is showcased until May 24 and presents artworks created by students from four schools invited by IPOR to participate.
Set up in areas easily spotted by visitors and passersby within the venue, the works on display showcases Macau through the eyes of students with the creation of their own maps, with a statement provided by the organisers noting that the works were made under the guidance of illustrator André Letria. Moreover, in addition to the maps are each youngster’s take on Macau and its urban environment, as well as the city’s characteristics.
According to the IPOR Facebook page, the participants were aged between eight and 14. Four schools participated in the event – Macau Portuguese School (EPM), Escola Sun Wah (新華學校), Zheng Guanying Official School, and the Generations International School. In addition to the works from these schools are 10 winning works from the CESL Asia Kids’ Drawing Contest organised by CESL Asia* in 2025.
Members of the public may visit the exhibition from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. during the exhibition period. Meanwhile, one can view the variety of programmes and activities of the ongoing festival on https://ipor.mo/noticias/letras-companhia-2026/
The festival is title-sponsored by Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG), with IPOR co-organising the event in conjunction with the Consulate-General of Portugal in Macau and Hong Kong.
