The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) announced in a statement yesterday that a temporary service point for the Macau Municipal Kennel will begin operations on June 1, as the current kennel facility will undergo maintenance and renovation works expected to last until early next year.
According to the statement, the Macau Municipal Kennel, located at the junction of Avenida do Almirante Lacerda and Avenida do Coronel Mesquita, will temporarily close from June 1 due to ageing facilities and the need for improvements to its internal layout and public reception areas.
During the revamp, the bureau will operate a temporary service point at the former Ox Warehouse adjacent to the kennel site to ensure the continuation of essential public services, the statement said, adding that appointments for veterinary consultations, surgeries, and pet cremation services will be suspended during the works period.
However, previously scheduled bookings and a number of core services will remain available, including follow-up veterinary consultations, post-operative care, dog licensing, vaccinations, quarantine services, animal health certificates, pet adoption, and animal cremation, the statement noted.
The bureau said the renovation project aims to optimise internal circulation, improve space utilisation, expand public reception areas, and refurbish the building’s exterior walls in order to enhance the overall service experience for residents, the statement added.
Meanwhile, locals requiring services during the renovation period will need to access the temporary service point through the side entrance of the former Ox Warehouse, the statement said, adding that the temporary facility will include a waiting area and two consultation rooms.
According to the statement, operating hours will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday, while remaining closed at weekends and public holidays.
