A Malaysian man surnamed Cheah, who works as a technical manager for a local casino, has been arrested for carrying and owning three daggers, three kukris, a flick knife, an air rifle and four replica grenades, a Public Security Police (PSP) spokesperson said during a regular press conference yesterday.

Local Customs officers found the weapons in Cheah’s luggage as he was about to enter the city through the airport on Saturday.

The 43-year-old man told the police that the weapons were for his collection. He said some of the arms had been given to him as gifts by friends, while the rest had been bought locally and from the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, according to the spokesperson.

This undated handout photo provided by the Public Security Police (PSP) yesterday shows the various weapons seized from the Malaysian suspect’s luggage.
