The Macau Catholic Centre’s June 12 opening ceremony has been postponed, the centre announced in a statement yesterday, citing “technical construction issues”.

The blessing ceremony which had been scheduled for June 13 and the inauguration of the exhibitions “We Build the Future with an Eye to the Past” and “Witness to the Heritage, Mission in the World”, both major projects commemorating the 450th anniversary of the Catholic Diocese of Macau, have therefore also been postponed.

“We extend our most sincere apologies to all sectors and friends for any inconvenience caused by this postponement”, the centre highlighted in the statement, calling on members of the public to stay abreast of the situation.

The 17-storey Catholic Centre is located at the junction of Avenida da Praia Grande and Rua do Campo. Reconstruction began on September 8, 2021, with the new centre integrating a hotel, dining facilities, lecture halls, conference rooms, exhibition spaces, and multi-purpose activity rooms.
