Casino takings rise 23.7 pct in May

Macau’s gross gaming revenue in May rose 23.7 percent year on year to 22.74 billion patacas, posting a 10-month winning streak and beating analysts’ forecasts, according to data released by the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) yesterday.

Reuters said that analysts had expected revenue growth to range between 15 percent and 20 percent.

Last month’s growth rate was the highest since February 2014.
