Guest speakers at yesterday’s Macau Forum agreed that the new ferry terminal in Taipa will help boost the city’s economic development in the long term, and also that it will make Macau better prepared for the expected increase in visitor arrivals resulting from deepening economic cooperation with the mainland.

However, some members of the audience at the outdoor forum criticised the government for building “such a large terminal” where some facilities are still not open after it started operation last week.

The government has said that the terminal’s shops and restaurants need more time to open their doors.
