July features packed lineup of volleyball, arts fest & sports events in Macau

The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) and the Sports Bureau (ID) are jointly rolling out a raft of cultural and sports events throughout this month across Macau, covering the Women’s Volleyball Nations League, the Macao International Children’s Arts Festival, recreational sporting competitions, reading promotion activities, art exhibitions and music performances, offering residents a summer full of cultural and sporting enjoyment, according to a press conference yesterday.

The press conference about the cultural and sports activities in July was held at the Macau Cultural Centre (CCM) in Nape.

According to an IC statement yesterday, the “Women’s Volleyball Nations League – Finals Macao 2026” will take place from July 22 to 26 at the Macau East Asian Games Dome, featuring 18 women’s volleyball teams, who will compete in three rounds of preliminary group matches from June 3 to July 12 elsewhere to secure the ranking points needed to qualify for the finals.

Meanwhile, the “3rd Macao International Children’s Arts Festival”, which started yesterday and will end in August, features stage performances, art experience camps, art exhibitions, children’s reading sessions, workshops, a “Weekend Party” segment and a film festival, the statement said, adding that the “Weekend Party” activities will also be held in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin this time, with the aim of offering group games and handicraft workshops.

The Cultural Affairs Bureau also launches a raft of diverse cultural promotional activities this month, including traditional arts & crafts, artistic creations, religious history and handicraft experiences, as well as the “Historic Centre of Macau Church Guided Tour” to celebrate the 21st anniversary of the inscription of the “Historic Centre of Macau” on the UNESCO World Heritage List and the 450th anniversary of the establishment of the Macau Catholic Diocese.

A ongoing special exhibition about mainland China’s cultural creativity throughout the years is on until August 7 at the Macau Art Museum (MAM), featuring design prototypes from 22 cultural and museum institutions across the nation, presenting nearly 400 outstanding cultural and creative works.

Moreover, registration for the 2026 “Qin-Macau Cup” series and applications for a youth series badminton competition will open this month.

“Qin” is the short form for Hengqin Island.

Besides, the “Vital Community – 2026 Summer Sports Festival” from July 4-5 at the Olympic Sports Centre, as well as a raft of community sports activities including outdoor mass fitness promotion events, a pickleball experience day and a windsurfing class will be held this month across the city.
