MGM and the Guangdong Office of the Macao Chamber of Commerce recently co-hosted the two-day “SME Quality Enhancement Greater Bay Area [GBA] Exchange Tour”, gathering close to 20 small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from Macau’s food sector that have long partnered with the integrated resort operator.
The tour aimed to help delegates gain “insights into the latest production technologies and market trends”, the company said in a statement on Tuesday, hoping that they will apply them to their own businesses. The event also included representatives from supporting Macau government entities and associations.
The statement said that the participants visited Foshan city and Jiangmen city, touring several “representative enterprises covering food production and processing, food machinery and equipment, as well as traditional catering brands that have successfully transformed into modern chain operations”. A Foshan-Macau industry exchange session was also held.
Assistant Vice President of Purchasing of MGM Simon Leong (梁泳澎) was quoted in the statement as saying: “This year, we have facilitated the industry to gain a deeper understanding of food production technologies and market trends. Over 70 percent of participating SMEs have joined our GBA exchange tour for two consecutive years, demonstrating the initiative’s effectiveness.”
The statement quoted Macao Chamber of Commerce Vice President Kevin Ho King Lun as saying: “We hope that this exchange tour will serve as an opportunity to connect high-quality industrial resources across both regions, explore new collaboration pathways, and identify mutually beneficial opportunities, thereby fostering deeper cooperation across related industries and beyond.”
Gourmet House Macau LTD. General Manager Carman Ying, who has participated in the programme for two years, was quoted in the statement as regarding the initiative as “highly beneficial”.
