The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) announced in a statement on Monday that Macau has topped the “2025 Top 10 Destinations for Chinese Outbound Tourist Satisfaction” by the China Tourism Academy, marking the second consecutive year that the city has achieved first in the list.

The achievement reflects “high recognition and appreciation from mainland Chinese travellers regarding their travel experiences in Macau”, the statement said.

The top 10 rankings by the China Tourism Academy, a research institution under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in Beijing, were as follows: Macau; New Zealand; Australia; Hong Kong; Argentina; Spain; Singapore; Italy; France; and the UK, according to the statement.

Macau was praised for its “leisure & entertainment” and “attractions & accommodation”. The statement added that the overall satisfaction score “highly validates Macau’s tourism experiences”, with the statement also highlighting the collective efforts from civil society.

The statement said that MGTO Deputy Director Cheng Wai Tong recently attended the release event in Beijing and, during a roundtable session, noted that the core success behind Macau retaining its top spot lies in the establishment of a comprehensive service quality assurance system featuring “all-citizen participation, multidimensional response, and precision supervision.”

The statement said that Macau welcomed over 29 million visitors from the Chinese mainland in 2025, with the statement pointing out that MGTO will “continue to collaborate with the industry to optimise tourism services and facilities, execute effective promotional campaigns, and deliver spectacular large-scale events”.
