The Alliance for Common People Building Up Macau (API) urged the government yesterday to toughen up the illegal inn law – in order to make those providing illegal accommodation criminally liable – with the aim of turning it into a more effective deterrent.

The association held a press conference about the matter yesterday on its premises in Areia Preta.

Law 3/2010 on the Prohibition of Providing Illegal Accommodation came into force in 2010. Any amendments to the law proposed by the government would have to be submitted to the Legislative Assembly for debate and vote.
