The Health Bureau (SSM) announced in a statement yesterday that it received a report of a COVID-19 infection cluster involving six residents at The Salvation Army “Rui Xi” Elderly Integrated Services Centre (救世軍睿禧長者綜合服務中心) on Rua da Doca Seca (船澳街).
Comprising five males and one female, the statement said that starting Saturday, the patients had started experiencing upper respiratory symptoms including fever, cough and runny nose. Each tested positive for COVID-19 during rapid antigen tests (RAT), the statement said, leading to an “initial assessment that this is a cluster infection caused by the coronavirus”.
The statement added that all patients were in stable condition yesterday, with no severe cases or serious complications.
According to the statement, officials are actively monitoring the health status of everyone inside the facility, including both infected and uninfected individuals.
In line with set protocols, the facility has stepped up its infection controls by ramping up cleaning, improving indoor airflow, and implementing isolation protocols for those infected, the statement said.
The bureau reiterated its medical support and treatment guidelines, along with important preventive measures for members of the public, in the statement, also urging high-risk individuals who have not received the LP.8.1 COVID-19 vaccine to get their jab.
