The “Ask China - Macau Edition 2026” forum, themed “The 15th Five-Year Plan: China’s Economic Policies and Opportunities for Macau”, took place at Wynn Macau yesterday, aiming to offer an in-depth exploration of the new opportunities created for Macau and the global business community by the quinquennial plan.

Secretary for Economy and Finance Dora Ng Wai Han, Central People’s Government Liaison Office in the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) Deputy Director Lu Yuyin, 14th National People’s Congress deputies and local lawmakers José Chui Sai Peng and Kevin Ho King Lun, and 14th Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference National Committee members Lawrence Ho Yau Lung and Frederico Ma Chi Nga, as well as about 150 civic and business leaders from a wide range of sectors, attended the one-day forum yesterday but did not address it.

The forum closely followed the latest policy directions of the national 15th Five-Year Plan and incorporated the 3rd Five-Year Plan for Economic and Social Development of the Macao SAR (2026-2030), which is set to be officially implemented next month, according to a statement by the organiser, yesterday.

AmCham Macau Chairman Charles M. Choy (蔡明威) noted in his speech that Macau is playing a critical role as a “Golden Connector” in the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).

“The forum is an excellent platform for us to ‘Ask China – engage in dialogue with China and understand China!” Chou said, adding that he hoped everyone will use the platform to exchange views candidly, build consensus, and jointly achieve win-win cooperation over the next five years.

AmCham Macau President said in her speech that the nation’s 15th Five-Year Plan has charted a clear direction and injected strong momentum for local future development, adding that as an important window for the nation’s opening-up and a platform for international exchange, Macau is uniquely positioned to connect with the world while integrating into and serving the country’s overall development strategy. By leveraging its unique advantages, the city can play a meaningful role in contributing to the country’s high-level opening-up, she said.
