A 70-year-old local man groped the breasts of a nurse and a doctor while receiving treatment at the public Conde de São Januário Hospital Centre last week, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Wong Wai Chon said during a regular press conference on Friday.

The jobless suspect, surnamed Tai, was taken by ambulance to the hospital’s emergency department at 11:30 a.m. last Wednesday after feeling unwell with flu symptoms. About 10 minutes later, while a female nurse was carrying out basic examinations and arranging for him to see a doctor, he groped her breast, prompting her to call the police.

While PSP officers were at the scene attending to the incident, a female doctor attempted to transfer Tai from a wheelchair to an examination chair. The officers witnessed him groping the doctor’s breast and slapping her on the back.

Police officers immediately intervened. Once his medical consultation was complete, Tai was taken to a police station for questioning.

Both healthcare workers have decided to file criminal charges against the suspect. The doctor informed the police that she had sustained a minor back injury during the incident.

Tai has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), where he faces charges of sexual harassment and causing bodily harm under aggravated circumstances.
