The deputy director of the Personal Data Protection Office (GPDP), Yang Chongwei, will be appointed director of the office effective from July 1, as Chief Executive Fernando Chui Sai On has accepted the resignation of Vasco Fong Man Chong effective the same day, the Government Spokesperson’s Office said in a statement yesterday.

The statement said that Fong had submitted its resignation “for personal reasons”.

Fong was appointed as the privacy office’s director in December 2014 on secondment from the Court of Second Instance (TSI) where he is a judge.
