A survey’s findings show that 55.68 percent of customers back the introduction of electronic payments in local wet markets, while 55.57 percent of market vendors disagree with the idea, Macau Market Vendors Union board member O Cheng Wong said yesterday.

O announced the findings of the survey, jointly conducted by the Macau Federation of Trade Unions (commonly known as Gung Luen), local think tank Choi In Tong Sam and O’s union, during a press conference at the union’s office in the city centre.

The groups conducted the survey by questionnaire on the feasibility of introducing e-payments in traditional wet markets in April; 537 valid responses were collected from customers and 698 from vendors.
