Macau’s gross domestic product (GDP) rose by 3.7 percent year-on-year in real terms in the first half of the year, according to preliminary figures released by the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) today.
A DSEC statement said that the local economy enjoyed “steady growth” in the first six months, “driven by the continued expansion in exports of services resulting from a year-on-year increase in visitor arrivals”.
GDP reached 209.89 billion patacas (US$25.98 billion) in the first half of the year.
“Total exports of services increased by 7.2 per cent year-on-year, fuelled by a 0.9 percent rise in visitor arrivals,” the statement said.
In the second quarter, GDP expanded by 0.3 percent year-on-year in real terms to 103.33 billion patacas.
