Applications to open tomorrow
The Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) and SJM Resorts are set to jointly launch the “Hotel Operations Specialist Career Development Scheme” (酒店營運專才事業發展計劃), aiming to offer employment opportunities and skill enhancement through systematic vocational training, the bureau noted in a statement yesterday, with applications open from tomorrow through August 14.
According to the statement, the scheme, which takes on a “train-after-hiring” model, will provide eight vacancies for the position of “Hotel Service Ambassador”, with SJM to arrange for successful applicants to undergo a 24-month programme that combines “professional training and practical work experience”.
The statement noted that the scheme covers training in areas such as hotel operations, butler skills, and basic wine knowledge and food pairing, while the successful applicants will also be able to obtain related certificates.
The statement said that those who meet the standards after the completion of training within the programme guidelines and pass evaluations will be eligible for promotion, going from “Hotel Service Ambassadors” to “Butlers”, with salary adjusted accordingly.
Successful applicants will also be asked to attend a seminar and on-site interview on August 25, with training content and career progression paths to be presented, according to the statement.
