Energy Sector Development Office (GDSE) Director Hoi Chi Leong said yesterday the government expected the demolition of the former CEM peninsula power station on to be completed by the third quarter of next year.

Hoi made the remarks while speaking to reporters on the sidelines of this year’s Energy Saving Week launching ceremony in Praça do Tap Seac.

The annual event organised by the office aims to raise residents’ energy-saving awareness by holding a raft of activities throughout the week, including an hour-long lights-off event from 8:30 p.m. today, which will see the non-essential lights turned off on the city’s three bridges and many public facilities as well as some hotels and casinos.
