The Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) hoisted the No. 3 typhoon signal at 4:30 p.m. yesterday.

The signal was still up at 9:30 p.m. when Tropical Cyclone Merbok was less than 100 kilometres east of the city. It was heading north-northwest at about 20 kilometres per hour.

According to the bureau’s website, based on the current trajectory of the storm, the wind force is not expected to become stronger and the No. 3 typhoon signal will remain hoisted for a while.
