The Livelihood Affairs Bureau of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin announced in a statement yesterday that it is about to host a night run next month to promote national fitness.
According to the statement, on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the zone, the Fluorescence Run 2026 Hengqin, organised by the bureau, is set to kick off on Sunday, September 13, in the Hengqin Sumlodol Camping Park*.
The event will incorporate trendy glow-in-the-dark elements, creating a platform for sports exchange among residents of Hengqin and Macau, and promoting fitness for all, the statement said.
The run offers two distances: a four-kilometre fun category and an eight-kilometre challenge category. The route is entirely free of interference from public traffic, featuring flat and safe road conditions, according to the statement.
LED glow-in-the-dark signage will be placed every 500 metres along the course, and eight professional pace-setters will be positioned throughout the running group. This year’s medal features the event theme as its core design element and is made from eco-friendly materials; the event also provides custom-made fluorescent sports T-shirts and glow-in-the-dark gear for participants.
The statement noted that the registration fee is 30 yuan (36 patacas) per person, with a cap of 2,000 participants. Registration will close once the quota is filled. On the day of the event, in addition to the run, there will be a carnival and a lucky draw.
