The local government has launched a cross-departmental campaign offering shopping incentives to spectators of the WTT Champions Macao 2026, aiming to encourage residents and visitors to explore Zape and boost trade for local small and medium-sized enterprises.
Zape is a Portuguese acronym for Zona de Aterro do Porto Exterior, which translates to Outer Harbour Land Reclamation Zone.
The “Ticket Perks x WTT Champions Macao 2026” campaign was jointly announced by the Economic and Technological Development Bureau (DSEDT), the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), and the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) at an open-air press conference on Friday afternoon at the junction of two streets in Zape, Rua de Cantão and Rua de Pequim.
Under the initiative, holders of valid World Table Tennis (WTT) tournament tickets can claim three instant-discount vouchers worth a total of 150 patacas until September 13 by presenting their tickets and scanning a QR code at designated MGTO information counters, tournament booths, and the Zape carnival venue.
The vouchers provide 20 patacas off purchases of 68 patacas or more, 30 patacas off purchases of 108 patacas or more, and 100 patacas off purchases of 298 patacas or more.
The campaign has been divided into three promotional phases: September 7-9, September 10-11, and September 12-13, with each ticket holder permitted to claim the offer once during each period. The vouchers can be redeemed at roughly 500 designated shops across Zape.
Meanwhile, a fan support zone has been set up along pedestrianised stretches of Rua de Cantão and Rua de Pequim from tomorrow through Sunday. The area features a six-metre themed installation, an interactive fan wall, and displays of rackets signed by players.
The ticket-perks scheme is also tied in with the “Rhythm in Zape · Carnival of Cultural and Sports Consumption – Flash Mob from the Table Tennis Ring to the WTT in the Commercial Zones”, which will be held in Zape to enhance the tournament atmosphere and give spectators a more immersive experience, according to the Friday press conference. The event features tournament-themed photo spots (known as “da kat” in Cantonese), interactive activities, and game stalls, amongst other attractions, encouraging visitors to explore the neighbourhood whilst taking in the excitement of the competition.
The WTT Champions Macao 2026 will be hosted by Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) at the Macao East Asian Games Dome in Cotai between tomorrow and Sunday.
