Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai has met with Zhongshan Mayor Yin Nianhong, where Sam highlighted a proposal to set up staffed counters for Macau’s public administration services in Zhongshan, according to a statement by the Macao Government Information Bureau (GCS) yesterday.
The meeting was held at Santa Sancha Mansion – the local government’s guesthouse – on Penha Hill on Wednesday.
Sam said that Macau and Zhongshan have been maintaining sound cooperation, which can be further strengthened in fields such as culture and tourism. Sam said that both cities can complement each other’s strengths and capitalise on the opportunities presented by Hengqin’s development, encouraging major sci-tech projects to extend their development into Zhongshan to achieve a win-win scenario.
Sam also expressed support for establishing an area of cross-border government service counters in Zhongshan to serve the more than 30,000 Macau residents living there.
Yin expressed his gratitude to the Macao Special Administrative Region Government (MSARG) for its long-standing and robust support for Zhongshan’s development. He stated that Zhongshan is seizing the major historic opportunity presented by the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).
