Artyzen Grand Lapa Macau received the Carbon Disclosure Award – Macau at the ESGBusiness Awards 2026, recognising its efforts to improve energy and water efficiency, reduce waste and strengthen environmental performance through data-driven management, according to a recent statement by the hotel operator.
The hotel’s Low-Carbon Strategy Project covers energy and water management, waste reduction, emissions monitoring and operational improvements, with performance tracked against its carbon emission intensity target, the statement said, adding that measures include converting its steam boiler from diesel to natural gas, upgrading air handling units and replacing guestroom minibar refrigerators with more energy-efficient models.
The hotel also reuses treated swimming pool overflow and blowdown water for toilet flushing and has introduced reusable glass water bottles to reduce single-use plastics, the statement noted. Other initiatives include plant-based menus, cage-free eggs, refillable guest amenities and recycling programmes, the statement underlined, pointing out that its environmental performance is monitored through its Environmental Management System and TT-Green ESG platform, with senior management and an ESG team reviewing results and identifying areas for improvement.
The recognition follows several sustainability milestones, the statement said, noting that in 2026, the hotel received the Silver Award at the Macau Green Hotel Awards and was honoured at the Inaugural Carbon Awards.
Last year, it became the first hotel in Macau to achieve LEED Gold Certification for Operations and Maintenance of existing buildings, the statement said, adding that it also received the Gold Award for Environmental Performance at the 2025 Business Awards of Macau.
Macau Hotel Association Vice Chairman Rutger Verschuren said that “carbon disclosure is not simply about reporting numbers. It gives us a clearer understanding of how our hotel operates, where our environmental impact comes from, and where we have opportunities to improve”, the statement said, adding that the hotel also engages colleagues, guests and the community through Earth Hour and World Earth Day activities, including tree-planting initiatives, as part of its ongoing sustainability efforts.
