The “2026 Galaxy Entertainment Macao International Marathon” is slated to take place on December 6, with registration for the annual event’s full and half marathons starting at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, while runners can sign up for the mini marathon starting from 9:00 a.m. on Sunday.

Now in its 45th edition, a total of 2,000 places are available for this year’s full marathon, while the half and mini marathons each have 5,000 spots. Compared to last year’s edition, the number of places for both the full (42.195 km) and half (21.0975 km) marathons have each increased by 200 from the previous 1,800 and 4,800 spots respectively.

The around five-kilometre mini marathon, meanwhile, sees a decrease in spots from last year’s 5,400 places.

Runners from each category will start at the Olympic Sports Centre Stadium in Taipa, with both the full and half marathon courses again to include the Governador Nobre de Carvalho Bridge, A-Ma Temple, and Sai Van Bridge in their routes.

During a press conference announcing event and registration details on Friday, Sports Bureau (ID) President Deland Leong Wai Man highlighted the signature event’s history, adding, as summarised in a statement, that with the cooperation and experience of the organisers, along with support from civil society, she is “confident that this year’s event will be further upgraded through more professional race management and enhanced support services, attracting long-distance running enthusiasts from near and far to compete in Macau”.

Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) Director Philip Cheng Yee Sing also pointed out in the statement that the company was honoured to support the event for 23 consecutive years, as well as be a co-organiser for the fourth year straight. “As the event celebrates its 45th edition this year, GEG will continue to collaborate with the organisers and stakeholders to enrich Macau’s “Tourism + Sports” offering through the event and a series of related activities”.

General Association of Athletics of Macau (AGAM) Supervisory Committee Chairman Ng Iok Tong said in the statement that the event is a much-anticipated annual event among the Greater Bay Area’s (GBA) runners, as well as added that the number of Macau’s long-distance runners are constantly increasing.

This year’s programme also again sees the “2026 Galaxy Entertainment Macao International Marathon Carnival”. Moreover, prizes will again be up for grabs for the “Most Creative Costume Award” for runners.
