The winners of the 34th Macao International Fireworks Display Contest were unveiled last night, with the South Korean team Faseecom Co., Ltd taking the top prize, followed by Platinum Fireworks, Inc. from the Philippines, and Feux Artifice Orion from Canada coming in as second and third.

This year themed “Set Sail for Macao, where the Silk Road Sparkles” and featuring 10 competing teams, the fireworks display contest was held on the evenings of September 12, 19, and 25, the National Day holiday on October 1, and last night, which saw shows from the Philippine and UK teams amidst the heavy rain.

Speaking during the prize-giving ceremony held last night at the Macau Tower Convention and Entertainment Centre, Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes said, as summarised in a statement issued last night, that “the synergy of event and destination appeal was radiated more extensively and boosted the nighttime tourism economy”, while the contest also acts as an exchange platform for international professionals.

The statement said Senna Fernandes hopes that the contest can continue to “showcase Macau’s vibrant charm of ‘tourism +’ through the artistry of fireworks, enriching Macau’s offerings as a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure”.
