The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) will begin the second phase of renovation works at the Taipa Houses Museum’s ecological trail this Thursday, with the affected section around the northern ecological pond fully closed for about 60 days, according to a statement by the bureau yesterday.
The renovation is part of a five-phase project to address deterioration and mould damage that has developed along the ecological trail after years of use, the statement said, adding that the revamp includes replacing ageing trail structures and wooden panels to improve durability while preserving the natural appearance of the wetland.
The first phase, which began in mid-August, focused on a section on the southern side of the Taipa Houses, near Avenida de Nossa Senhora da Esperança, the statement said, noting that the second phase will focus on the trail surrounding the ecological pond on the northern side of the Taipa Houses. The affected section will be completely enclosed throughout the works and will reopen after completion, the statement added.
The remaining third to fifth phases are scheduled to be carried out in stages next year, the statement said, adding that the actual completion date of the second phase will depend on weather conditions.
The public is advised to follow on-site notices and avoid entering enclosed areas during construction. For enquiries, residents may contact the bureau’s hotline at 2833 7676.
