The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) yesterday unsealed the bids submitted for its public tender for the private sector’s operation of the Macau Open-Air Performance Venue in Cotai, saying that the winning bidder is expected to start operating the facility in the second quarter of next year.
Since its trial operation started in December 2024, the open-air performance venue in Cotai has been operated by the government.
The bureau launched the public tender in July this year, looking for a private company to operate the facility.
Potential bidders were required to submit their tenders on Monday at the latest.
The bureau received five bids, which were unsealed at its headquarters yesterday.
The Macau Open-Air Performance Venue, set up on a large plot in southeast Cotai covering 94,000 square metres, is located east of the Lisboeta Macau resort and south of the Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau complex.
IC officials told the media on the sidelines of yesterday’s bid-unsealing session that the bureau aims to choose and commission the winning bidder by the end of this year. The winner will then be required to set up a company, which will sign an agreement with the government. After all preparatory tasks are completed, the company is expected to start operating the open-air performance venue in the second quarter of next year, the officials said.
The private sector’s operation of the venue will last five years. Upon expiration, the operation can be extended for three years.
The tender set the minimum bid at an annual payment of 2.1 million patacas.
