Integrated resort operator Melco Resorts & Entertainment said in a statement on Monday that it recently held a series of community engagement events celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival, having around 650 community beneficiaries through a series of 16 activities.

The statement said that over 260 Melco volunteers and their families, along with community volunteers, came together to dedicate a total of 730 hours of care to local seniors, families, youths, and special needs students. The statement also noted that the activities highlighted the intergenerational volunteering approach of Melco’s Teaching Children Values programme.

Among the activities were a handicraft workshop joined by nearly 170 participants ranging from Melco staff through community members; pastry workshops to help seniors “recall fond memories of past traditions”; inviting around 40 primary school students to Studio City’s Spotlight for a buffet lunch; and charity mooncake fundraising.

The statement added that the activities were organised in conjunction with Asilo Vila Madalena; Escola de S. Jose; FAOM Ka Ao Nursery Home; Macao Gaming Practitioners Volunteers Association; Oxfam; Pou Tai Integrated Service Center for Elderly; The Salvation Army; Women’s General Association of Macau; UGAMM – Cheng I Elderly Integrated Service Center - Cheng Chong Building; and UGAMM Elderly Caring Service Network

Executive Vice President and Chief of Staff to Melco Chairman & CEO Akiko Takahashi was quoted by the statement as saying: “Through Simple Acts of Kindness and Teaching Children Values, we hope to continue to foster deeper connections within our community and ensure that everyone feels the warmth and joy of the festive season.”

The statement also quoted Senior Vice President, Marketing Strategy & Analytics, Sun Young Yi as encouraging participation as “this is a great way of setting a good example, and demonstrates the benefits of supporting and being kind to one another.”
