Artworks by Fujian-born contemporary artist and sculptor Gao Xiaowu themed around dreams continue to be on display at integrated resort Galaxy Macau’s luxury shopping area “Galaxy Promenade” in Cotai.

An award-winning artist whose works have been collected by various Chinese and international art institutions, Gao’s exhibits in “Dream Voyage @Galaxy Resort: Gao Xiaowu’s Art Exhibition” are showcased across five colourful chapters, with all of the artworks chosen from the artist’s different series

Beginning with the hope and imagination of “Dreams Begin”, it moves to celebrating individuality in “Breaking the Mold”. “Dreams Return” then prompts visitors to reconnect with their original aspirations, followed by a tribute to heartfelt appreciation in “Gratitude Shared”, according to a recent statement by the integrated resort operator. Lastly, “Love Expressed” shows the role of love in nurturing dreams and deepening connections.

Meanwhile, beyond Gao’s works, exhibitiongoers will also find mini sculptures created by six invited local artists in a partnership between Galaxy Macau and the Macau Artist Society (MAS), the statement said. The works are each inspired by Gao’s pieces, with the six locals each presenting their own artistic styles and twists.

Overall, the exhibition encourages a reflection on “dreams, personal growth, gratitude and love while embarking on an inspirational journey of self-discovery”, according to the statement.

The statement highlighted Gao as being known for using the philosophies of “the moment that is” and the practice of “popular arts”, adding that the artist “seeks inspiration from the experiences, emotions and aspirations of ordinary people”.

“Through a visual language characterised by humour, warmth and accessibility, Gao explores urban life, social issues and human connection, while conveying a strong sense of empathy and public engagement”, the statement said.

The free admission exhibition runs through November 17. One can read more in a Post article (https://www.macaupostdaily.com/news/29450)  published last month.
